gcosse05
Well guys, New build is underway.. The old setup is currently a stock LQ9. TrickFlow 225cc heads FAST 102 intake 228/230 .585/.585 112 YellaTerra 1.8 rockers 1-3/4 longtubes 90mm LS3 throttle body Completely built 4L60 with Precision 3400 triple disc. Siemens 80lb injectors Full Nitrous Outlet kit with dedicated fuel cell. I cant figure out why the truck just wont run. Ill have it running good, and after a few miles after reflash, it'll start surging, running bad, trying to die when coming to a stop. Pull over, do a write entire, reset fuel trims, and do crank relearn.. shes good to go for a while. I think the intake is the culprit, and tuner somewhat agrees. Current setup has went 12.008 on 150 shot straight out the hole. Best of 13.2 on motor. Now for the new!! I contacted Zippy about going faster, told him my budget, and this is what we have come up with... New LS3 block machined to 418ci Forged rotating assembly Piston squirters Carb style intake with elbow and 102mm TB PRC 265cc LS7 style heads 1-7/8" headers Big ole' nasty cam Spec'd by Zippy Whole bunch of nitrous. 2.88 gear set for trans (i think), and a refresh Walbro fuel pump Aeromotive regulator Probably NASTY PERFORMANCE'S billet rails The motor is 95% paid for, and builder is working on it. I don't have any pictures of the engine yet, but as soon as I get some from Zippy, I'll upload them here.. I plan to clean up under hood while motor is out. Not that its nasty under there, but y'all get the idea. New fender liners, polished firewall, painted frame rails, etc... Zippy has high hopes for it, and he's never steered me wrong, so i'm pretty excited. Still trying to decide on what longtubes, and how to get a fuel pump in the tank. I guess ill chop the bucket up like everyone else. That's all for now guys. Ill update soon.

Link2603
Looks like this is going to be 1 quick truck. Are you sticking with the 60e? Edited May 14, 2015 by Link2603 (see edit history)
gcosse05
Looks like this is going to be 1 quick truck. Are you sticking with the 60e? I have a fully built 60e in it now. I will be sending trans back to builder for a refresh, and he wants to put a 2.88 gear set in it. I think that's what it is anyway. It'll take a pretty big bind off the trans on the launch, and give me a lil better holeshot To be honest, i'm at the point to where I want to prove a point with the 60e. Or with Robert Godfrey's transmissions anyway. I know that it's impossible to make hard parts harder, and I know that it is not unbreakable... But guys.. I give my truck absolute hell on his trans. AWD, 22's, and hit it with 175 off the line for SEVERAL BOTTLES.. I KNOW its over 600awhp when on the bottle. I constantly give it hard downshifts, shift into 2nd in the bottle spinning all 4, I mean I really beat on it. And when I settle down and take the lady out to eat, it drives and shifts like a cadillac with trans temp never higher than 140. That's pretty good considering its like Africa hot in south Louisiana. I'm gonna let him do what he wants to it for the new motor, and I hope to report back here with a awesome time slip running his 60e.
Link2603
I know Robert has a really good rep for building transmissions and I have faith he can build you one to stand up to the power you ll be making. How much power do you think your going to be making?

How much power do you think your going to be making? Ehh.. I really don't have number. I'm assuming around 550awhp. Looking for high 11's on motor. And I plan to start with 100 shot and work my way up from there. Zippy said "we're gonna hose this thing down" lol, so idk. I know I have a dedicated fuel cell and a pretty bad ass nitrous system. 12'SROCK
Congrats on your new set up. Seems like its going to be a beast. Sucks you couldn't get you current set up to run correctly.
12'SROCK
And I agree about running a well buit 65e in these trucks. I NA and cutting 1.60' and have done a ton of track passes and trans stays cool even with my 3800 converter.

Seems like you aren't even welcome at PT.net if you don't have an 80e. I believe he can make it hold. And yea man idk why it just wont run right. Comes out the hole like a monster, then it just falls on its face. But that's behind me now. Ill have some really nice parts for sale off the old motor very soon. gcosse05
Intake is ordered. Got a Holley Hi-Ram as per the doctors orders. Got it from Summit. I really like Summit. Competitive prices and very fast shipping. Zippy says he's hoping to have pics for me next week!
