Has any one had any issues with there laptop after installing EFI LIVE? My lap top has worked flawless for years until yesterday. Installed v7.5 for flash scan V1 made a few connections to get familiar with the software and all was fine. Last night attempted to get in the truck and copy PCM but never made it that far as computer started action slow when I connected the V1 and opened tuning tool.

I have never owned efi live but my boss uses it. As far as I know he hasn't had this issue. Lets assume its not the software for right now... How old is the computer exactly? While the age doesn't directly matter, maybe the memory is getting full, or the hard drive is weak. I do not claim to be a computer wizard btw, just ideas. I would check to make sure you have enough memory for this program to run and save tunes. It could be your processor just doesn't have the capacity for it, but as far as I know EFI live doesn't require anything special. I guess if it was me and I monkeyed with all I could to no avail, I may uninstall and reinstall after verifying I did everything 100% correct, which I'm sure you did, but computers can be finicky. Make sure no other programs are running. I have no clue what your computer aptitude is so please excuse me if I'm preaching to the choir.

Have you tried calling the EFI live support, if they have one? It's gotta be something silly.

It's comical today....it won't make it past login screen. Hp 2000 which should've had plenty of room to run the software it about 2 years old... then on my way in I pass some a-hole doing 35 in a 60 and now my truck has one hell of a shudder. Like I lost a spark to a cylinder or something... I guess today is just going to ge on of those days... no cel light either. Aghhhhh.

I installed it on 2 of my laptops and haven't had any issues, work laptop has windows 7 and personal has Vista.

For all I know bringing it outside last night from a 72 degree office to 35 degrees may have shocked it somehow....

As far a she goes... took 3 hrs to get to this point....

Damn man. I hope you can get it figured out. My boss takes his in and out of the shop and we've been about 15* lately.

Does the computer have to be online to download that stuff, it almost seems like a virus. But like I said before I am no wiz

So from what you've told us I gather that the program downloaded as expected. But when hooked to the truck started acting funny And you couldn't collect the stock tune due to this.. Now you have a shudder that may be a miss or maybe TC. I would assume your truck didnt act up at all before this incident. This is a puzzler for sure. Can you tell if your truck is in reduced power? Maybe the ECM had a closet issue, but with the computer pretty much disabled now idk. Would the ECM have enough power to mess with computer or did the computer mess with ECM. Was the ECM already tuned? Idk why it would cause this, but just trying to get more info

Being as untalented as I am with computers, I'd prolly call EFI live and see if they can get you squared away. Seems like a very frustrating

ordeal

I really don't think it had anything to do with efi live...just bad timing.
