jbiller
When i back out of a parking spot or on a wet ground and sometimes driving foward and turning wheel hard to left or right i feel a bump in the front end. Almost like my tires have a huge bulge in them. Someone told me my differential is going bad and others say its tires.. I have brand new tires on it. Been aligned and still feel this happening. Anyone else ran into this issue?
desrtrat
check for bad cv joint (s) is there a clicking sound when it happens?
jbiller
Cv joints are good. No clicking sound and it does not do it all the time. Only every now and then
Cramer
More than likely its the tires rolling over itself on the sidewall. When I had the stock size tires on mine I would have the same thing happen. Went to a shorter sidewall and haven't had it since. It could also be ball joints or tie rods but since its recently been aligned they should have checked them at that time.
jbiller
Yea i checked them as well.. i may try going with a different tire size. Wjat size did you go too?
Downeast Johnny
I would pay for professional help before I bought tires hoping that that would cure it. Is there a particular noise that you can hear when the bump happens? Have you looked under the front end for any sign of parts rubbing together? Can you get it to "bump" in dirt, grass, or gravel or does it only happen on hard surfaces? Sinr98 may be right about the tires slipping in hard turns and sidewall load. Can you find any scuff marks on the sidewalls? My truck did something that seems similar, one time. Never happened again so I didn't have to worry about it very long. Good luck. Hope it's something simple.
jbiller
It does it in grass sometimes as well but its hard to tell considering most the time your in grass its never a smooth surface. Ive checked out everything i could think of. Id rather avoid a proffessional because most of the time they will look for an issue thats not even there just to make some $$$.. i was planning on getting snow tires anyway so im going to try that and see what happens! Thanks for all the help guys i will let you know the outcome in a week or so when i get tires

jbiller
Turned out to be a tie rod or tires. I swapped out tires saturday and noticed i had a little play in tie rod so i replaced that as well and so far its not doing it. I dont see how a tie rod would do that but im not a professional lol. Thanks for the feedback guys!

Downeast Johnny
Great to hear that you've found some problems and maybe fixed the problem. You should be OK on the alignment as long as you don't drive it very much and not at high speed. The one time my truck did something similar, (On asphalt), I called a pretty good mech and described what had happened and he told me that there are limiters, (Or stop's) to keep the wheels from turning too far that can cause that problem when the wheel is turned too hard. Not sure that that is true because I have never been able to re-create the symptom.

Thanks for the feedback guys! Good to hear you found the problem because mine does the exact same thing. When that happens I quickly turn my wheels back, it feels like the tires are gonna fall off or something, I haven't changed my tie rods and all that, maybe thats my problem too
