catdaddy300
Ok how bad is road salt for rims. i Have 24s and will be using them for the winter in Wyoming. Is this the worst mistake of my life. My rims are powder coated also. Thanks guys!
Aldofashow
I wouldn't do it if you like and plan on keeping them
1BAD2K
If you do it, buy a good paint sealant and keep them as clean as possible. Man it must sucks to live in the north. In texas, we might only get a day or two of "sleet" every winter lol. Edited September 25, 2014 by 1BAD2K (see edit history)
Blown 346
All I did was wash them often at the do it yourself car wash and wipe them down. I also do under truck. I have never had a issue with my 2003 Chrome wheels. I also have a heated garage so that makes it easier to dry stuff off.
catdaddy300
Yeah I don't really have a choice but to just tip toe around on the 24s. I know this being in Wyoming buissness is completely different than texas! I am Kinda plan on getting them re powder coated also in the new future so I guess they can take a little punishment and I won't die or anything

jddmj
Plasti-dip them for the winter. Yes I said it, Plasti-dip. This is a perfect example of when the stuff actually does a good job.
03SSBoy
Yea my buddies truck has no rust because he plasti dipped the whole bottom half of the body Edited September 25, 2014 by 03SSBoy (see edit history)
2003_SuperSport
As long as you wash them regularily you wont have a problem, which in the winter every time its sloppy wash them which is weekly here in MN with each snow fall lol... I dont drive my truck in the winter so I dont have a problem with them, but If I were to drive my truck in the winter (which is all theoreticle cause I would never do it lol) I'd use a good paint sealer or as much as plasti-dip is hated on this site, it is a great way to prtect them if you do enough coats... I have some chrome rims on my colorado that I will try to plasti-dip for the winter just to try it... I have never done it but I have seen it done and it looks to hold up well for the price... Blown 346
My wifes winter wheels for her TBSS I plastti dipped 4 years ago and they still look like I did it. It holds up with washes, hand brushes etc. The to it is to lightly coat the wheels so it looks dusted, wait for it dry. Then do it again, and again. Then start putting thicker layer on. It wont come off easily, the longer you let dry the longer it will last. I would honestly do it now since its still nice and you get even coverage, and the cold doesnt effect the spray pattern. Always wipe the tip after use....
demonte1997
How wide are the tires on those wheels? My biggest worry about running 24s would be having wide tires on them and not getting traction in snow. I just throw the cruddy plasti-dipped stockers back on in the winter. :/
