catdaddy300
Ok so I bought a viper 5706 and FLCAN and had it installed at Audio Express the preferred installer in The Woodlands, Texas. Well I had the car alarm installed and went to pick up my truck when they closed at 7 and when I got in my truck my check engine light was on and when I drive it it feels really sluggish when I take off like its in 2nd gear almost. Also when I shift from reverse to drive the truck shifts really really hard. I am going to take it back tomorrow and have them fix it or take it out. Any one out there have any ideas what happened. Thanks guys
fast4popper
My guess, total guess. Tach wire is either disconnected or grounding out. Just a guess. Simple fix.
catdaddy300
Well that's at least a little reassuring. Not going to lie I was pretty agitated by the whole thing and the way they messed around with me all day.
catdaddy300
P0740 is the code I am now getting on the truck is it just a complete coincidence this all happened at the same time or do you still think it's this tach wire you speak of
fast4popper
Tell them to make sure they energized the white AND pink ignition wires at the column as true ignition. Not as accessory wires. Also, clear the code and start the truck with the key and see how it drives and report back
catdaddy300
I dropped the truck off with them again and told them what you said in the earlier message and what I found online. So we will see. If they can't fix it will it hurt my truck to drive 1600ish miles with that code?
fast4popper
I wouldn't drive it out of their lot!!! If it went in normal. It's something they did. Also, if it's the ignition wire, it's ****ing with your tranz pump. Don't drive it
catdaddy300
I got them to disconnect the remote start but leave everything so it would go back to normal. Like i told the dude when he did that the code went away and the truck drove normal. i wish i had more time to get it right but i have to drive to Wyoming on Saturday so ill have to just wait until i get there to figure it out. catdaddy300
Ok so i took my truck to a sister company in Fort Collins, Colorado and they took a look at it and they said the install is so shady looking and poorly done they want to just take everything out and just reinstall it. fast4popper
Nice! But not nice. Keep me informed and mKe Sure you get money out of that old shop.
catdaddy300
ok i will! i just want the damn thing to work it was 25 degrees yesterday and its only going to get colder. Do you think the old shop would refund the money since the other shop is going to fix it for free?
fast4popper
Doubtful. If they truly fix it for free, let it be. If they charge you to fix it, then go to the original shop and work with them to pay the bill.. Good luck
catdaddy300
Yeah i got an appointment on saturday for them to re-install it. Hopefully everything goes great again! Is installing the alarm on our trucks really that difficult or is this just a freak accident!
