I'm using a toshiba laptop with hp tuners running on windows XP. Support and security is no longer available for it. So I really don't want to go online with it. So I was wonder if some can post what pid's to setup in the scanner, but I guess it is to difficult to do.

You dont have any scan configurations to use???? The general default imperical is all you really need for standard MAF and idle air tuning.... I can PM you some scan configurations I use... For my truck I use a 2bar with wideband pids, but I always use a modified default imperical with wideband pid and a maf hz setup instead of grams of air... Let me know

yes I have scan configurations I want to log my actual idle airflow so i can set my base running air flow, I have already tuned my ve and maf airflow tables, just trying to get my idle a little bit better I have a little bit of surging in open loop when I do a cold start.

I know the feeling on the surging brother LOL... Sorry for the late response... I have that exact same cam and it was a b*tch to tune for me too... It used to surge alot in open loop especially at first startup it would die 2-3 times before holding steady. Then it would surge again in gear trying to back up and then in closed loop it would surge again if I came to stops to fast after a little liberal gas aplication lol... I got it to mostly clear by adjusting the idle up in the areas it liked to surge by 50 rpms each time until the surging went away..

thanks for the reply,I see your cam is a 112 LSA. One less than mine, did you ever do the write up that Krambo did years ago. I did and it pretty much idles perfect, just play around with base idle air flow and the cracker air flow tables and add less ve at idle areas, also porpotinal idle air flow. I finally got it figured out. I did the idle airflow procedure over several days of cold start ups, I ended up subtracting about 1.5 g/ sec from my scans and the surging is gone, and my AFR is right about 14.6-14.7 at idle. Also I did my VE and MAF tables and man what a difference, so smooth and a lot more responsive throttle, now got to figure out my WOT because it is running lean, 15.2-15.7, for some reason I have PE set at 12.8 across the board, but I think it is something to do with COT being that I have enabled it. Anybody have an idea if COT mess's with PE at WOT?

Unlikely your issue IMO however just delete the COT command. It is useless IMHO in our modified lifestyle. For a stock truck that tows etc. yea, it can be helpful.

I would first look at all of your adder tables (IAT, ECT etc.) and ensure you are not having influence there. Then I would focus on your Ve and MAF calibration. If you are running a 14.7 STOICH, you may wish to run 14.2 to better reflect the 10% Ethanol fuels that are 99.9% of the blends out there now.

Since you are leaning out up top, I would look at your IDC values as you may be maxing out your injectors up in the RPM band however your sig says you should be fine with the 44#rs. Regardless, it would be good to check. if your flow numbers you entered in your tune are off, you could be masking the issue when you calibrate your MAF and Ve table.

Check fuel pressure at high RPMs as well. Low FP will lead to lean AFR creep at higher RPMs.

Oh, here is the old HPT configuration for the RAF (Idle Air):

Idle-Airflow.cfg
