03honakerss
I have noticed lately my rear brakes have been sticking after a lot of down hill braking. Is it possible for both calipers to be bad or do I have a issue somewhere else
Downeast Johnny
It is possible to have a rust problem that keeps the caliper piston from backing off easily. Does DOT use a lot of salt on the roads in your area of Va.? Have you given them a good looking over for rust or "crud"?
Fireman31
Check for rusted or gunked up pad slides as well..... Edited August 2, 2014 by Fireman31 (see edit history)
03honakerss
They do use a lot of salt but I don't drive it in the winter. Usually drive it about once a month in the summer to car shows and such. Just normal or flat driving I don't notice it. I have noticed coming off of mountains or a lot of aggressive braking the back one stick and get hot. You can park it and they will slowly back off. I haven't had chance to check it out yet. Just thought it was weird for both rear to do it
Downeast Johnny
Have you replaced the rear pads recently? When pads get worn the pistons extend out and get rusty and or "grunked up" then when you put new pads on and push the pistons back into the calipers they can get stuck or hard to move, keeping pressure on the discs and overheating. kissfans03ss
Definitely check the caliper slides I will bet they are frozen and also see how old the pads are as stated above the Pistons could be out of their bore further then normal and may be causing some kind of brake issue but I bet it's the slides.
