Muffler Recommendations

Hey guys,

I'm starting to get tired of the Flowmaster Super 10's drone on the highway so I wanted to know what you all are running. Weirdly enough while researching mufflers I came across several forums that showed guys gaining a little power switching from a flowmaster muffler to a magnaflow. Would anyone else agree with that? I know that magnaflows are strait flow through mufflers vs the baffled flowmasters but I don't know if that would make enough of a difference. Thoughts?

I run a 14'' DI/DO magnaflow. Sounds good, I have it coming out in front of rear tire.... Yes it drones too if you go this route.... Tolerable yes, but just a heads up. Guys say magaflow doesn't drone... perhaps this is true... just not in front of rear tire.

I didn't notice any power increase from changing out from stock muffler to the magnaflow, but it depends who you talk to. Some people gain power every time they add a sticker to their back window

Ive heard that flo masters do restrict exhaust, so perhaps you would gain a tad bit of power with the magnaflow

I use to run a Cherry Bomb Vortex DI/DO and loved it but when I went with long tubes and no cats the cheery bomb was wwwaaaayyyy to raspy so I ordered a Magnaflow #12599 it's a DI/DO 3" with x pipe built in. IMO I think magnaflow is a better route to go because its stainless steel and it is quieter but at WOT it really sounds good. I have never owned flowmaster, but i believe most of the people on here if they had to choose between flowmaster and magnaflow they would choose magnaflow. Not sure if this helps you at all.

Any straight through muffler is gonna net better gains over those flowmaster's. My truck had 2 single chamber flowmasters super 10's, when I switched to LT's I took the entire exhaust off and replaced it with a factory duramax exhaust, but im sure it woulda sound like $hit with the flowmasters. I never really liked the tone it had, I still have them and have been meaning to get them put on my wife's wk2 Jeep with a magnaflow X pipe I have, but really thinking about just doing a di/do borla or magnaflow.

I run the factory dmax muffler to cut out the noise when cruising on the streets to not attract "The Man" and just use the E cut out when needed, but have been thinking about adding a muffler. If I did do one my first choice would be either a 4" or 3.5" Borla for my setup, and second choice would be a magnaflow.

Dual in out magnaflow here hands down better than Flowcrappers. Dumped sounds great get compliments prob 5 days a week.

I agree, I've had Magnaflow on almost all my vehicles. Whoever had the SS before me must of liked it stupid loud. I had some resonators installed last week and that did quiet it up a little. It's just not quiet enough for me to enjoy highway driving. That and if I can gain a little hp while making it quieter why-not.

I prefer Spin Tech Pro Street 6000 or Super Pro Street 9000 mufflers. They are a street muffler but they work awesome at the track. I have had the Super Pro Street 9000 3" mufflers on my 1980 Malibu street racecar and it only lost .2 in the 1/4 mile through 3" exhaust dumped before the axle. This was a 468 BBC w/250 shot of N2O. I will be running the Pro Street 6000 w/custom 3" pipes all the way out the back. My trucks on ramps right now in my driveway waiting on the TSP 1 7/8 F-Body Stainless headers I'm ordering next week.
