Caskerz559
So i have an 04 ss All Wheel Drive and the ABS light started to turn on out of no where. the weather is dry no snow or rain. it stays on at times and turns back off. and whether the ABS light is on or off sometimes when i break my break pedal will kick back a few times as if i had no traction. Any idea what it could be??
Aldofashow
Front wheel hubs probably
Blown 346
Either that or the actual wires from the hubs needs to be replaced.
Caskerz559
is that a big issue? can it still be daily driven safley?

bassmaster
It's usually a bad wheel speed sensor, which is involved in the hub/wiring. It happened on my Sierra and I kept trying to get around for a few months, but it got sketchy because I never knew if I was going to be able to stop, or have my pedal some back at me and give me a heart attack every time loll if it's pulsing, it's worth it just to buy 2 new Timken hubs off RockAuto for about $210 Sent from my Galaxy S-Fawhore Edited July 24, 2014 by bassmaster (see edit history)
Blown 346
For that price you can MOOG hubs for less and get a better brand and quality.
bassmaster
Where will you find moog for 100ea? Sent from my Galaxy S-Fawhore
Blown 346
I get discounts since I have a commercial account with them. The sensor can be replaced all on its own without buying new wheels bearings.
Cramer
The Timkens are better for quality if they are USA made by far. SKF is the best but a little more expensive. Both should have a 3yr warranty. The Moogs are mostly rebranded foreign made bearings with poor quality materials. I would stay away from any hub assembly not made here. Spend a little more on quality now or replace them sooner than you wanted.
Aldofashow
I noticed on rock auto that some of the parts brands have 2 versions of parts with flags from USA for the cheaper one and then the more expensive ones have flags from USA and Canada next to the parts labels. I called and asked what was up they said it was better quality both parts were ac delco brand and they were ball joints as I had replaced with moog the first time they only lasted 2 years so I did them again getting dealership lowers and rock auto ac delco uppers that the dealer said they couldn't get so I'm not a moog fan but its weird that brands will make different quality parts kinda like this one sucks and for 20 bucks extra this one last
Blown 346
I have had moog parts for years and years on my truck with no issue at all. I used to work par time at a parts store, If you compare the Timkens to the moog you can not only only see the difference buy feel the difference. Cramer
I was a test engineer for hub assemblies. I saw the good and bad and what made them good and bad. If you got a good set of USA made bearings I don't doubt that they are quality. Most of the cheaper timkens are foreign made and of less quality than US made. I would still say that the timkens are better quality and have a better warranty.
