SShanks
I've done some searching on this with no luck. I plan on painting my calipers soon and I was wondering if I used a couple hose clamp pliers to squeeze the brake line above the caliper, would I be ok to undo the brake line from the caliper without getting air in the lines? I really don't want to paint them while they're still on the rotor.
SS-GTP
That's what I did, as I didn't want to try painting with the calipers still attached either. But you will still have to bleed the brakes when your done. Even with the clamps, those last few inches of brake line plus the caliper itself is going to have air in it. With the air trapped in the ends of the runs, just the old fashion method of going from corner to corner should work fine.
1BAD2K
They sells plugs to close off the line. I wouldn't put a clamp on the rubber line bc if it is dry rotted at all, it might Crack or split. You will have to bleed the brakes either way, but that's a perfect time to run new fluid through the system anyways.
SShanks
Do you know where I can find these plugs? I've always wondered about that. It looks like you could just run the right bolt with a nut on the back side that would keep it from leaking.
