New radio,Bose amp bypass,long story

Recommended Posts

My truck had a cheap aftermarket radio after the GPS radio was stolen,

First off I wanted a stock radio installed to get my steering wheel buttons back, finally found one at a junk yard for a cheap price $53

Then had lots of issues with the chevy dealership not knowing how to program it to my truck, two different trips 6hrs and $46 later it was working

But my Bose amp wasn't working, with the volume wide open you could barely hear it

Then went to audio place to get some options.

1st option:go to junk yard and buy another $350

2nd:have them order one $500

3rd:bypass it $300

So I chose to bypass the Bose amp but another problem was I can't use the stock radio anymore unless I buy an aftermarket amp

Cheapest they had was $250

So I upgraded my radio to HD,Bluetooth, phone, aux,USB and other options but no more steering wheel controls again

4 hrs and $495 later my system sounds decent with stock Bose speakers, pioneer radio and no amp but I can now easily add an aftermarket amp & subs

So that's my next upgrade

This has been a big headache and lots of time.

I just installed a aswc-1...If you just got your radio installed they most likely used a GMOS-04 harness which has the aswc already pre wired... very straight forward sells for 49 on amazon. You cut pretty much all wires except the pink. Turn on the radio and start pushing the volume up for about 20 seconds an bingo you have your controls back...

I agree, I would do the steering wheel controls yourself. I dont like electrical stuff, and I was able to put the GMOS-04 in my self. Total time since Im anal about being organized was about an hour and a half from start to finish with everything with the headunit to the steering controls. It will save you a bunch of money.

I also suggest going to amazon for the wiring harnesses, it will save you tons of money.
