Heavy TLC!

Got my 03' just yesterday! First one I've had, and love it.

The truck needs work all over the place though… Nothing "major", but enough for me to justify paying only 5k for it.

-Really bad exhaust leak

-One bad HID ballast or bulb

-Broken passengers side mirror glass

-Speedometer stepper motor is bad, gear position indicator lighting is bad

-Lots of other odds and ends including zip ties holding on the bumper vents….

Started easy today with refinishing the heinous engine cover...

I'll be out of town for a week starting tomorrow, and the following Saturday I have an appointment at Exhaust Pros to fix a bad leak at the drivers side collector.

Thanks eh! Took a lot of brake cleaner and elbow grease… Got all the red paint off, had to re-shoot some trim black on it all again.

To make the lettering silver again I used a sponge.

spray the paint onto the sponge and dab til its a nice even silver.

It honestly doesn't look half bad in person!

That engine cover turned out great! Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

Damn 5 grand is a good deal, lots of those little things will add up, but I still think you'll come out ahead.

Welcome to the site bud.

Even with a lot of elbow grease in your future, it looks to me like you made a good deal on the truck. How many miles?

What kind of wheels are on her? Can't see much in the photo.

There's a whopping 189K on it! Drives great though.

Most of the problems are "cosmetic"... Just need to start buying stuff.

I can't remember the wheel brand off hand but they are 22'' size.

I'l try and get better pictures next weekend!

Looks like a good deal for only 5k. I would not have passed it by. heck I'd probably paid 5k for it without a engine. heck 6.0 are only about 1k around here. so even if the Motor fails on you its still a good deal. the engine covers look much better.

Thanks guys!! I had a feeling it was a good deal even with the work it needs.

Took it to the exhaust shop today to see if they can fix the leaks, and sadly they wouldn't touch it because it's cat less. FML lol...

I'll have to look to test pipes or make some myself, no big deal. I just hate that slave work lol.

I'll be going on a trip in the truck to Minneapolis today though! I'll be there all week.

Maybe I'll find a good DL3 Mirror at a yard and replace it in the hotel parking lot some night lol.

Good deal on the truck.

Just find someone that can weld and have them fix the leak or a speed shop. Most exhaust places won't touch a cat less exhaust.

If a real bad leak it can be hurrying your fuel mileage too.

Right, I got turned away from the exhaust place I went to.

Good news though! I know a guy with a speed shop down there that'll fix it tonight, if not Wednesday when I'm in town.

He seems like a good guy, and I'll probably have him tune my camaro on his chassis dyno.

It's hard I tell from the photo, but the passengers side headlight is pretty much yellow, whereas the drivers side is a crisp white.

Switch the bulbs around and it turns out I have a baf HID.

Where do you fellas order yours from? And what "K" do you think the white one is that I have! The ballasts have ZERO markings on them.

Also found I have a remote start installed but no fob....

I travel a lot... LOL
