What are your goals? If your worried about street manners then what's wrong with the stock cam? Not saying a custom grind won't have good street manners. And why are you chasing torque power?

The gains from the lq9 over your current 4.8 or 5.3 would be a significant difference. Idk if that will be enough for you or if your still looking for more, or is it the cam lope our chasing?

I think with a 224/224 cam you'll be happy and maybe even a circle d 278mm 3000 stall. And you could still tow with that converter.

But definitely think about what you need from the setup and how your gonna be using it, and I think that'll help people guide you in the right direction.

What I would first due is consider if gas mileage is a concern. How often will it be driven and if you want it to have street manners.

Any decent cam will give the cam sound. Buying a cam just for the sound isnt going to help you any. There are alot of variables that go along with a cam.

HP gains and torque curves.

Where you want those gains as far as low end RPM, high end, or throughout?

gas mileage

how deep you want to go with it? Rocker arms? Springs, retainers etc.....

Manners on drive ability?

Will this cam be enough for you long term? you shouldnt have to do it again and again..

All motor cam? N20? blown? I can go on and on.

Your best bet is to answer these to do the job once. Then talk to a engine builder to make sure you are getting the best choice. Im not saying people here dont know about cams and cant help. But whos better to talk to than someone who has first hand experience as a builder to finalize your decision??

As for converters, thats a whole other demon. That will also reduce gas mileage. Cost all depends on the quality and how high of a stall speed you want. How tight or loose you want the converter, what size diameter it should be etc....

Most go with the TBSS converters with a smaller cam as it works well, and doesnt cost a arm and a leg. Do a search, there are tons and tons of these threads, it will help answer your questions.

This is my daily driver I drive mostly city driving so my speeds are a max off 45mph with maybe a weekend drive at 70mpg for 35 miles or so I would say throughout rpm range would be nice as far as gas mileage I would like to average 13mpg at least would hate to have 10mpg half ton truck and valve springs would be as far as I would like to go, as for road manners would like to find a good medium and this motor will remain stock exept shorty headers and exhaust/CAI/cam/e-fans/built tranny and a good tune I plan to do no more modifications and for a converter its only if people recommend it would be best for my drive style amd cam choice, I want a cam mainly for sound and the motor is out would be easy to put in while out and just some over all power gains, also this truck has a front leveling kit with 33" tires with stock gears of 3:73

I think something under 220 with a 3000 stall is what your after. Also sell those shortys and pick up some long tubes. The shortys have zero performance gain. Look into some corvette servos they're $20 and easy to put in. It will give you some nice firm shifts while your at it

the tranny already has all that I can mark that off the list is a 3000 stall going to be a little high for stop and go with all the city driving I do?

I have a yank ss3200 and works fine I wouldn't go bigger as it could be to much for a daily driver from what you described 3000-3200 would be perfect

make sure you go with a good company yank or circle d seems to be one alot of guys here like and there are a couple more others here have used that could refer

A good converter will move the truck under the set stall rpm until the right pedal gos down mine is 3200 but I cruze down the road at 1500rpm
