powell
Well Long story short.... As some of you guys i know over the winter i picked up some 1-3/4" ARH longtubes. This spring after getting the truck out of storage i installed them and changed up my exhaust. Installed a new DI-DO 3" Magnaflow tipped in front of the rear tire with two stock SS tips powder coated black (pics to follow of my new look) About 2 weeks or so ago me and some buddies went down to the local track and made some passes. Ran a 14.43 with the new long tubes and exhaust. Which i didnt think was too bad considering i hadnt re-tuned the truck since all the exhaust work .My buddy Dr. Tedder started tuning the truck up. Went back this saturday night after making edits to the tune and ran a best of 14.06 with a not so good 60'. I'm just getting ready to install my LC-1 Widband, new taylor 10.4mm plug wires and some autolite copper core plugs. Hoping to tune its way into a 13.8 on some 94 octane. Raced a couple of quick cars that night. A newer Evo and STI were at the track they both ran a best of 13.8's. I beat the STI a couple of times which was some good fun! Hoping to be the fastest stock cammed, stock tire SS on the board. Wish me luck! Big thanks to the Dr.
JF-03-SS
Great 1/4 mile time but def. something wrong with the 60' times. Launching from idle?

powell
Great 1/4 mile time but def. something wrong with the 60' times. Launching from idle? Launching from 1000 rpm and feathering the pedal until I get traction. Best 60' I've mustered is about 2.05. Times like this I wish it was awd haha! As the night went on my 60's got worse. Track was un prepped that night, and on a good day it's not all that well prepped. Edited May 30, 2013 by powell (see edit history)
zippy
Looks like you certainly need to step up to a better tire. You're getting to the power level where traction is a big deal. Nice to see you run it on the tires you drive it on every day, but I'd recommend looking into a NT05 or something softer. What cam are you looking to go with? This pass was made on stock good year Ls-2's 275/55 with about 50% rubber left and at 30psi. when I was running running my brand new good year fortera 285/45 I was getting much better 60's. For now I want to try and spit out a high 13 on the stock tires and stock cam. I'm saving up some cash for drag radials right now. Was thinking Mickey Thompsons of the nitto's you suggested. I'm thinking about a cam and a stall. I want something very efficient and streetable. I was thinking about a trailblazer stall and not sure on the cam. A y suggestions? Fireman31
A good stall and DR's will certainly get you into the high 13's. With a 3000 stall and DR's my truck turned a 13.8 a few years ago before my cam swap....
OUT2WIN
I think that is a great time for the tires you're on. Keep at it and you'll get a 13 as it is!
powell
Thanks for the reply guys, planning on hitting up the dyno this weekend. Will keep you guys posted on any power it makes.
GI.SS
congrats on the time Powell! try airing down to 20-22 psi in that range. and leaving off idle but instead of going WOT off the line, go 3/4 throttle then open her up once you feel it stick. thats what i did and managed 2.0 60's all night. there just isnt enough sidewall with that hard of a tire to get any better of a 60. We'll see about that fastest stock cam record! I went 14.1 with my exhaust manifolds and havent been back since headers. Trucks currently at RPM Motorsports getting my converter installed along with a new trans pump. I cant hook anymore either man but I want Bogarts BAD lol Edited June 3, 2013 by GI.SS (see edit history)
JC03SS
You guys have some good times. Must have some really cool air. It's nasty here Friday nite at the track was 85 and about 90% humidity. It was flat out nasty.
