visualcmos
I've seen quite a few posts about the "death wobble" and I just started experiencing the same ugly shake at around 45 mph, also when i turn I hear a weird kinda rattle sound, kind of sounds like cv joints on an old eclipse I had. What are the most common things other than bad tires that cause this or some things to check so I can narrow down the damage and get an idea on the repair costs? I also had new rotors put on the front about 6 months ago.
Blown 346
I would check out the entire front suspension, wheel bearings etc. Cost all depends where you go, the labor rates and what needs to be replaced.

JC03SS
Wheel bearings could be it
BLNAWAY
a death wobble is cause by the steering dampner sliding or getting out of postion on the trac bar normally this is in jeeps or HD truck never heard of this in our trucks.. but with that being said since our trucks dont have a steering dampner i would look for loose or worn steering linkage, trac bar, steering shaft. visualcmos
Thanks for all the input fellas, sorry it took so long to repost. Come to find out the inside of the damn rim was a hair bent, and man I still don't believe it but only gave me the death shake at 45, made all kinds of damn clankin rattle which sounded kinda like an old eclipse turning a corner with bad cv joints lol.. and sure enough, fixed the rim slaped it on the back, 4 new tires and shes as smooth as a babies bottom again. changed all the brakes while i was under her, everything else looked rock solid.. Kind of curious though what would stop the SS's stearing wheel from locking after you take the key out.. Even with Emerg. Brake on I couldn't get her to lock for shit while i had the front jacked up.. once I let her back down it locks fine.. Never seen that before.
