blaSSck03
I finally plan on building my truck but before I start messing with the engine, I'd like to play it safe and work on building the transmission first. From what I've read on here, our transmissions are the weak link on our trucks. I've been looking into transmissions and I came across a few posts on here where you guys recommended FLT so I went to their website and saw their options. Now my question is, what transmission do you recommend? I know our trucks come with a 4L65E. Would it hurt if I got one of their 4L60Es? Should I just skip the 65E and get an 80E or would it even matter at this point if im going to get a brand new FLT transmission anyways? I DONT plan on taking it to the drag strip but I DO plan on putting some kind of forced induction upgrade(i.e. supercharger, pro charger) after the transmission swap. Any input/suggestions would be great guys as I dont have a lot of experience with these transmissions.
Aldofashow
I ordered a FLT level 5 and that's good chuck said unless your putting sticky tires on with twin turbo with a thousand horse then 4l65e would be fine you could get harded input and output shafts I didn't at 500 a whack he also said I wouldn't need them just call or pm them tell them what you got what your gonna have put on later and you'll be on your way but just to let you know there behind 3weeks ago they were 4 weeks behind there for I'm still waiting for mine to ship so don't wait to long or you'll could be waiting longer as summer gets closer
JC03SS
I also talked to chuck a couple months ago and he recommended a 5 for me also. I would say atleast a 5 or maybe a 7. When I do my trans eventually I want it a little over kill if I'm gonna put the money and time into it. That's my opion.
