just wanted to share my experience today lol... i had left something at home today on the way to work and had to turn around, and being pissed i was driving the truck like i stole it lol, tonight i was a tad bored so i decided to put the hammer down and boy did she take off!!! it was the weirdest thing ive ever experienced lol shes never pulled that hard. i was thinking cuz i run 87 octane on the truck that maybe it just had a bunch of junk in the heads or something.... sure felt like i cleaned it out! haha

Mine is the exact same way, you drive it like an old woman and it acts so sluggish. Give it good throttle (3k+ rpms) on the takeoffs for a while then it wants to unexpectedly burn rubber when you push the gas sometimes. IDK. dunno.gif

hahaha glad to see im not the only one! w.e. it made my day lol she even broke loose a little and thats awd

If you like poor performance, worse fuel economy, and detonation.

I doubt the worse fuel economy and detonation as I'm sure the pcm will learn to pull timing back for 87, but I do agree SOME power will be lost. But, you're the expert, not me. thumbsup.gif

In order for the pcm to pull tinning, it has to see KR, to much KR will result in detonation it pinging. The lq4 has less compression therefore less susceptible to KR on low grade fuel. Not so with the lq9. Also, many members here have done the 87 relearn on 91 tune and have reported a lower mileage over just running 91 or better. However, to each their own and if lack of performance outweighs saving 4$ at the pump, so be it.

No, I agree with you. I run 93 myself of course I run 11-1 compression. But when I was stock with 9.5-1 compression I got better gas mileage with 87 running stock timing than I did with 93 octane and increased timing. And it seemed to have better torque. dunno.gif But the everyday normal person probably wouldn't notice a difference between running 87 and 93 octane in their ss. My thoery is that with a lower compression engine, running high timing is useless because it won't knock until it's over min. best torque. But, it's just that, a theory, you'd know way more than I on the subject.
